Your academic journey at The University of Texas at San Antonio begins with the Annual Convocation! Convocation is UTSA’s ceremony to launch the new academic year, and is the official welcome for new Roadrunners! Convocation is one of only two annual events where the University’s president, administration, and faculty from all Colleges gather in a formal academic setting focused on students. (The other, of course, is Commencement.) Convocation honors all new students and recognizes your entry into Roadrunner Nation.
Convocation will introduce you to:
- UTSA President Taylor Eighmy and UTSA Provost Kimberly Andrews Espy, who will share UTSA’s mission, values, and goals;
- UTSA Chemistry Faculty member Hector Aguilar, who will share advice on student success in the classroom;
- SGA President Brittany Ashley Garcia, who will give tips about how to make the most of your Roadrunner experience;
- UTSA’s culture of engaged learning and community.
Immediately following Convocation, all students and faculty will attend their Explore Your Major event. All students should attend the Explore Your Major event for the College in which they are enrolled for the fall or in which they are interested.
Due to the large size of the incoming #UTSA22 class, there will be overflow seating with a simulcast of the program in the Recreation and Wellness Center. Arrive early to get your seat! Attendance is encouraged.
